Davide Jr. Distinguished Lecture Series on April 27, 2005, at the SC Session Hall.       CHINESE CHIEF JUSTICE. Justice Artemio V. Panganiban toasts the President of the Supreme People’s Court of China, Chief Justice Xiang Yang, during a reception at the 11 th Conference of Chief Justices of Asia and the Pacific held at the Gold Coast in Australia on May 20-24, 2005 .

      ROTARY ELITE. Justice Artemio V. Panganiban was guest of honor and speaker during the induction of the Philippine College of Rotary Governors led by Chairman Guiller E. Tumangan. The induction was held on July 16, 2005, at the new Hyatt Hotel in Manila.

      MINING SUMMIT . Justice Artemio V. Panganiban keynoted the International Mining Summit held at the New World Hotel in Makati on February 4, 2005 . He asked the foreign and the Philippine investors present to “Invest in the Whole Country, Not Just in the Mining Industry.” (The text of his speech is reprinted as Chapter 14 of this book.)

      BOOK LAUNCHING . Justice Artemio V. Panganiban was guest of honor during the launching of former Senate President Jovito R. Salonga’s new book, The Task of Building a Better Nation, on June 30, 2005 . Justice Panganiban’s speech, “The Power of Example,” is reprinted as Chapter 13 of this volume.
